Caring For Your Jewellery

PEARLS

Pearls are more fragile than most other gemstones, so you must handle them carefully to keep them looking their best.

  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes and body creams.
  • Gentle cleaning is essential.Wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth as soon as you take them off to remove any excess body oil or residue. The cloth can be dampened with water, or it can be dry. If damp, allow the pearls to air dry before putting them away.
  • Never use solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents on your pearls, nor put them in an ultrasonic cleaner as this can damage the nacre coating.
  • Store pearls separately to avoid scratching

SILVER

  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes and body creams.
  • you can use many of the store bought silver cleaners, such as silver rinse, or silver polishing cloths,on your jewellery (do not use these on pearls or oxidised silver).
  • My favourite method of cleaning is to soak the jewellery in a mix of warm water and washing up liquid. Then clean gently with a soft toothbrush (baby toothbrushes are perfect) or cotton bud. Rinse well
